MPE technology utilizes a combination of rain gauges and radar to estimate rainfall totals in near real-time for a 2.5 mile grid area.
During storm events, users can access the latest rain total estimates every 30 minutes after the hour.
Water Monitoring & Standards (WM&S) utilizes this data during storm water studies and for statistical analysis of water quality data.
In addition, County and local health agencies utilize this rainfall data to supplement the management of NJ’s beaches under the
Cooperative Coastal Monitoring Program (CCMP).
