This accumulated hourly weather data is obtained from the National Weather Service’s (NWS) Multisensor Precipitation Estimator (MPE). The MPE technology utilizes a combination of rain gauges and radar to estimate rainfall totals. Since MPE isn’t solely reliant on rainfall gauges, but follows an algorithm/model to estimate rainfall accumulation, the rainfall data is subject to change as new information accumulates during the course of the rainfall event.

The MPE is vulnerable to some inaccuracies under specific conditions. Users are cautioned to consider carefully the provisional nature of the data before using it for decisions that concern personal, public safety, or business related activities.
